October 2025

One of the most beautiful places in the world has to be located in the Caribbean islands. While I had been to Negril previously (at the RIU), I had decided it was time to visit another resort that came highly recommended by a coworker. This resort was called Rockhouse (located on the rocky cliffs of Negril, sister site to Skylark which I did not have the chance to visit…. yet).

The Hotel

Rockhouse is locates about an hour away from Montego Bay airport. I decided to arrange transport through the hotel rather than rent a car and drive (though its worth noting if you do chose to drive be ready to drive on the left hand side of the road).

Waiting outside of Mobay Airport

Just a small tour of the villa….

Staff at the hotel was great, I was located in one of their cliffside villas (though they have other rooms available). There was one bed, complete with comfortable sheets, a small kitchenette and a bathroom area with an outdoor shower. The room comes with a fully stocked mini bar as well as a waterside porch area overlooking the Bay (with both a chair, outdoor bed and an umbrella). As always I had my coffee station, complete with Starbucks dark roast and an aeropress, ready to go.

The Food

Overall I would give the Rockhouse restaurant a solid 8.5/10. This makes this resort a great all in one vacation for people who just want to relax and enjoy the hotel.

Food I tried:

  • Rockhouse Burger: 7/10
  • Coffee date shake: 2/10 – overly sweet, while I was curious coffee and dates do not mix.,
  • Jerk chicken fajitas: 8/10
  • Cocopine Smoothie: 9/10
  • Breakfast- Rockhouse Special (eggs Benn): 9/10
  • Rum Punch (10/10)- no notes

The Pool

While the option of jumping off of the cliffs is always there, Rockhouse also has a pool and plenty of lounge chairs. I didn’t spend much time at the pool, but it was quiet and serene. There was also a pool bar that had a limited menu of poolside food items and drinks.

The Escape

Throughout my trip I kept a keen eye on the weather. When leaving I noted that there was a small tropical disturbance…. which later turned out to be the category 5 hurricane Melissa. My trip was unfortunately cut short, however I would absolutely return to Rockhouse in a heartbeat. I think it is a great place for people of all sized, people with limited mobility, and people seeking a short vacation with good food.

On returning to Mobay (shout out to Spirit for not cancelling and always pulling through), packed with people returning home early from the hurricane, I decided to take the Club Mobay expedited service, which made going through customs a breeze. See below for pics of the airport and lounge.
